SUB
Traversing fractured earth.
“The ubiquitous material was transformed into an object quite beautiful and almost anthropomorphic, exaggerating the dynamism as the dance became increasingly violent and the tubing began to shred... the group electrified in movement, sirens blaring and feedback from a dragged microphone emulating crushing rock, the audience’s seating platform vibrating with each beat.”
- Lucy Hawthorne, ArtsHub
“A highly compelling visual and auditory experience... SUB explores the profound possibilities of contact and connection despite, or perhaps because of, an indefinable atmosphere of chaos and disrepair. An enthralling, deeply conceptualised work which softly layers themes of care, relationship and climate responsibility.
- Betty Sweetlove
Escaping a surface world littered with crises, we burrow into soil and stone to seek shelter.
Experience a contemporary dance performance that entangles natural symphonies with industrialised extraction, as four dancers dig closer to the polyrhythms of the core.
SUB cracks through our resistance to hope, a soft defiance in the enduring relationship of bodies and materials. In this place that both attracts and scares us – this wet, restless and difficult place – we engage with the terror and volatility of the living natural world.
